Report of the Humanitarian Aid to AIDPs in Bulengo around Goma North Kivu
Do you know why we are so critical to Humanitarian Relief Aid Agencies in Goma North Kivu?
Here is the brief report on how we managed to help 102 IDPs as we distributed clothes, food, soap and shoes including salt ” RAPPORT SUR LA SOLIDARIRE DU CHORALE LAVIGERIE DU 17 08 2024
This picture is the shelter of one IDP in Bulengo Camp around Goma, it is made of Mosquito-Nets and that somehow yellow clothe in the middle, this person has been there for moths and has not been helped, yet this person is in Bulengo which is believed and actually praised by the Authorities and Aid workers to be the best where people are fully supported, this person is not only him, there are thousands many others in exactly similar situation in Bulengo as well as in other camps. We are in dry season and in few weeks we shall have the rainy season, so no knows what will these people do.
Surprisingly when you move around Goma City, you will find construction buildings are being covered by UNHCR, and IOM plastics sheets, and this is not one but many. Recently OCHA claimed that these relief items are sold by people themselves and dismissed claims that they are embezzled.
The reality is that the management of Relief Aid is a problem and it is mostly being used by the very aid workers at the expense of IDPs. Denying even that this relief is embezzled constitutes a serious moral issue and takes away efforts to rectify such abnormality.
According to OCHA during the recent round-table meeting in Goma, more than 1,300,000$ is used every month in three camps mainly Bulengo, Rusayu One and Lushagala. But where does that money go? Who does it help?
