Our response towards MONUSCO Campaigns in North Kivu to convince people to support them instead of leaving

Press Release in response to current MONUSCO Propaganda in order to justify their presence in North Kivu.

This is our response to various activities put in place current by the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic.

As a reminder MONUSCO which is the United Nations Mission in DRC presented an exit programme in which the very last person was to leave DRC on December 31st, 2024, however instead of leaving the UN Forces is coming up with unclear excuses in order to stay for long yet people do not like them anymore.

Various actors of the Civil Society in Goma, North Kivu have come together in order to put pressure on MONUSCO to leave, in the process MONUSCO has initiated various campaigns. At first it was about intimidations and threats, now MONUSCO in involved in Radio Publicity calling upon people to support it and avoid demonstrations against them, also MONUSCO has started different meetings with various actors of the Civil Society and Youth Groups and lastly MONUSCO is organizing a Marathon which is targeting young people and those who will participate will be paid money.

By the end of 2024 MONUSCO put pressure to DRC Government in order to sign a deal to stay but they did not involve Congolese people who are waiting for their exit. Currently MONUSCO is claiming it cannot leave because it is providing intelligence to the Congolese Army and building Police Offices.

COMMUNICATION TO THE POPULATION OF NORTH KIVU IN GENERAL AND THAT OF THE CITY OF GOMA AND ITS SURROUNDINGS IN PARTICULAR FOLLOWING THE PROPAGANDA OF MONUSCO

Please share this message with others to help our country

The CITIZENS PACT to Demand the Departure of MONUSCO and Justice for the Victims of MONUSCO Atrocities alerts the Congolese population to several propaganda maneuvers put in place by MONUSCO currently in North Kivu to divert the vigilance of the population who are demanding immediate and unconditional departure of MONUSCO, this is a problem which we need to fix quickly. We observe Media Campaigns, Meetings with Civil Society Actors, Citizen Movements and Pressure Groups, as well as Youth structures (Youth Parliament, PROVINCIAL Youth Division of North Kivu) to justify the presence of MONUSCO in North Kivu, by means of buying conscience.

We appeal to national and international public opinion that these actions aim to buy the conscience of the Congolese to maintain the DRCONGO in the catastrophic situation which has already lasted more than 25 years. We remind the population that since 2022 we have joined the fight to demand the departure of MONUSCO from our country, and this patriotic struggle should not suffer from any compromise whatever the amount of money, intimidation and other opportunities. Thus MONUSCO had developed its withdrawal plan until December 31, 2024 at the latest when the last agent of MONUSCO Blue Helmets should leave Congolese soil, but MONUSCO did not respect its promise to leave our country, an institution like the United Nations that does not respect its word is really serious. As an achievement for this MONUSCO, Armed Groups have multiplied, the DRC currently has more than 10 million Internally Displaced People, more than 3 million Congolese Refugees in several countries around the world, and a large part of the North Province. Kivu which escapes the control of the Congolese State and more than 12 million Dead.

NB: As of June 26 and 27, 2022, during the Anti-MONUSCO demonstrations, more than 40 people were cowardly killed by MONUSCO, especially in Uvira, Goma, Beni, Butembo and Kasindi. On August 30, 2023, MONUSCO provided false information to the security services and this led to the carnage of members of the Wazalendo Religious Sect, more than 103 people of whom were massacred. Currently we have more than 100 people in prisons in North Kivu who participated in campaigns for the departure of MONUSCO, as part of spreading fear, we live with oppressive force.

We can tolerate different opinions in relation to our struggle to demand the departure of MONUSCO which remains a legitimate struggle of the Congolese people as primary sovereign. Our struggle will not be able to focus on the Debate whether it is timely or not, but rather on the desire to be a Free Nation. And the positive achievements of MONUSCO cannot justify its imposition to remain on Congolese soil.

And the United Nations, which claims to be champions of Human Rights and Democracy, should comply with the request of the Congolese people. What we cannot easily tolerate is the criminalization of the aspirations of the Congolese people as MONUSCO claims, and the announcements on various radio stations in Goma criminalizing the distribution of leaflets against MONUSCO and the instrumentalization of our security services to massacre the population.

We very much doubt whether there would be a single Congolese who could believe in MONUSCO. Our Congolese population in areas under Rwanda’s control are real Intelligence Agents and share all necessary information, and MONUSCO refers to this population and to the Civil Society Actors that we are to compile the information. *Our information will this time be shared directly with the FARDC, no more question of MONUSCO.

MONUSCO operating in areas under Rwanda’s control could not be a credible Intelligence Partner and especially since it helps the M23 to progress quickly. We do not need the United Nations to defend our country, especially these Prophets of doom who think of taking us hostage. They prophesied evil in Tanganyika and South Kivu but the FARDC proved control of the situation. We have confidence in our FARDC and our Intelligence Services.

The CITIZENS PACT asks the population to be alert, and to prepare for the Actions that will soon be launched to demand the departure of this MONUSCO as well as Justice for all Victims of MONUSCO Atrocities.
